Welcome Back, Grade 1 & 2 Families!

We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and refreshing summer break. It has been fantastic to welcome our students back to school and see them settling so well into their new routines and classroom procedures. We are already noticing students demonstrating our outstanding school values in their learning, play, and interactions each day.

As our Grade 1 and 2 students continue to grow in confidence and independence, we strongly encourage parents to support this by allowing children to walk into school on their own and put their bags away independently each morning. This small but important routine helps build responsibility and sets a positive tone for the start of each school day. We look forward to parent involvement in our classrooms as the year progresses.

Learning Highlights

Our classrooms have been buzzing with excitement, and we have already enjoyed several learning highlights:

  • InitiaLit Programme: Our Grade 1/2 InitiaLit literacy programme began this week, and students were thrilled to receive their special workbooks.
  • Mathematics – Length: In Maths, students have been exploring length and enjoyed measuring jelly snakes, classroom objects and even the basketball court in metres.
  • Inquiry – Personal Milestones: As part of our Inquiry unit, students have been looking at their baby photos and reflecting on milestones in their own lives.
  • Health & PE – Safe Play: We have also been focusing on how to keep ourselves and others safe when playing games, participating in sports, and using playground equipment.

We look forward to a fantastic year of growth, learning, and community. Thank you for your ongoing support!

The 1/2 Team
