At Badger Creek Primary School, we endeavour to provide an inclusive and positive learning environment for all our students. We use a range of strategies and programs to encourage respectful relationships, support emotional regulation and promote positive connections. Our wellbeing practices are underpinned by our school values – Be Safe, Be Kind and Be a Learner, along with the use of Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS), 8 evidence-informed practices that create safer, more purposeful learning environments supporting student learning, wellbeing and behaviour.

We deliver a whole-school wellbeing curriculum, where students engage in weekly wellbeing lessons with their classroom teacher. These lessons explore School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS), and Respectful Relationships (RR), along with strategies such as the Zones of Regulation. In addition, classes run a Circle Time each morning to support Social and Emotional Learning. This provides students with regular opportunities to discuss their thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

We also understand that students may require targeted and individualised wellbeing support and strategies. Through our multi-tiered systems of support, students are matched with the right level of support at the right time, using proven strategies and regular check-ins to boost learning for every student. Depending on the individual students’ needs, this could be in the way of classroom differentiation, Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and/or Behaviour Support Plans. Teachers may also refer students to our Wellbeing team, as at Badger Creek Primary everyone gets what they need.
