The First Nations program at Badger Creek Primary School provides an opportunity for students and staff to learn about and share in the rich and diverse cultures and perspectives of First Nations Australians. Linked to the Intercultural Capabilities subject of the Victorian Curriculum, students learn what culture is, how it is defined, how we all have culture and the wonderful ways that we can all share our cultures with each other. The program combines whole-school topics, such as Totems when our new Houses were introduced, as well as year-level focus topics across the year including What is Culture, Cultural Safety, Torres Strait Islands, Eddie Koiki Mabo, Marngrook, National Sorry Day, and the Kulin Nations. The First Nations program is new to the school in 2024 and will continue to be refined to best meet the evolving needs of students and our community.
