Nelson Mandela said, “Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is merely day dreaming, but vision with action can change the world”.
Our Grade 6 leaders display strong vision and work with one another alongside our staff to turn this vision into actions that benefit the school and wider community.
When students reach Grade 6, they are each given the opportunity to apply for a leadership position. The Grade 6 leadership portfolios incorporate students’ interests and strengths. Some examples include, Environmental and Sanctuary, Flag Bearer, Curious Creatures, Downball, Art, PE and Music leaders. As part of these leadership roles, Grade 6s may run lunchtime clubs, lead projects within their area for the whole school, and liaise with staff to create change and lead innovation.
Houses meet fortnightly across all year levels and participate in a range of activities. These experiences are designed by our House Leaders in unison with our staff. We also have our yearly Swimming and Athletics carnival that they play a pivotal role in.
At Badger Creek Primary School, we nurture and provide our students with guidance and the resources to excel in their roles. Our School Captains and Vice Captains represent Badger Creek Primary on many different occasions in the wider community, such as ANZAC Day services, ceremonies and leadership days. They create agendas and collate items to run our whole school assemblies.
These leadership opportunities and experiences are instrumental in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are learning valuable skills and qualities, such as communication, teamwork, respect, and compassion for each other and the wider community.
