Prep News, Term 1 – Week 9

Prep News, Term 1- week 9

What a wonderful and busy week we’ve had in Prep!

Our students have been working incredibly hard as we continue exploring our new letters. This week, we learnt the letter a, making the “a” sound, and the letter p, making the “p” sound. We are so impressed with how beautifully everyone’s handwriting is developing—well done, Preps!

Our mentor text this week has been Grandpa and Thomas, which has sparked lots of rich discussion. Students have been learning how to make meaningful connections with the text, and they absolutely loved creating their own versions of a day at the beach.

In Maths, our focus has been the Part-Part-Whole strategy. Students have been enthusiastically exploring how two parts can come together to make a whole number—discovering combinations such as 2 and 3 make 5, 4 and 1 make 5, and so on. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and number sense growing.

During Inquiry, we wrapped up our class presentations. Our Preps were so proud to share their hard work with you at last week’s Wellbeing Learning Expo. Thank you to all our families who came along—it was truly special having you in our learning space. A definite highlight was hearing the beautiful singing voices of our Prep cohort at assembly. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them!

A friendly reminder that we’ll be heading to the Library again on Monday, so please remember to pack your child’s library bag and their book to return.

Next week will be a shorter one with Good Friday coming up, and an early finish on Thursday.

We hope all our Prep families have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Easter break. We can’t wait to see everyone back, refreshed and ready for more learning!

Warm regards,
Marissa and Kaisey
