Hello BCPS Community,
It has been another busy and engaging fortnight in the Grade 3/4 learning space. Our students have been working hard across all areas of the curriculum and continue to demonstrate enthusiasm and curiosity in their learning.
Writing
In Writing, students have been editing, revising and publishing their narrative stories about an Australian animal going on an adventure. Throughout this process, they have been focusing on improving their sentence structure, adding descriptive language and ensuring their stories are clear and engaging for the reader. It has been wonderful to see the creativity students have shown as they bring their adventurous animal characters to life.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been learning about graphs and data collection. They have explored how to collect information; record results using tally marks and represent their findings using column graphs. As part of this learning, students conducted surveys with their peers about their favourite things, such as foods and animals, and then used this data to create and interpret their graphs.
Reading
In Reading, students have been using Get Epic to explore a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. We have been discussing the characteristics of both text types and why they are important. Students have been learning to identify the features that make a text fiction or non-fiction and have been sharing what they have discovered through their reading.
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been learning about the importance of everyone having the right to their own opinion. Through class discussions and activities, students explored how we can respectfully share our ideas and listen to the perspectives of others.
Whole School Athletics Day
Last Friday, we held our Whole School Athletics Day. The Grade 3/4 students showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. We were very proud of how supportive they were of one another, cheering on their classmates and participating with enthusiasm.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another great fortnight of learning ahead.
Kindest wishes,
The Grade 3/4 Team
