What a fantastic week we had at last week’s Athletics Carnival! Our Grade 1 and 2 students demonstrated incredible perseverance and resilience as they participated enthusiastically despite the hot weather. It was wonderful to see students encouraging
one another, cheering on their classmates, and showing such great sportsmanship throughout the day. The standout highlight for many of our students was the running race, where they gave it their all and proudly crossed the finish line. We are very proud of the effort and positive attitudes shown by everyone. A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers — Morgan, Danielle, Eliza, Catherine, Lynn and Alice — who led small groups on the day. Your support made the event run smoothly, and we truly could not have done it without you!
In the Classroom
Maths
We have recently finished our unit on whole numbers and place value. Over the next two weeks, students will be learning about positional language and location. They are working towards giving and following simple directions using language such as left, right, forwards and backwards.
Writing
Students have been continuing to develop their ideas and are now drafting their own stories inspired by the narrative structure of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We are looking forward to sharing their finished storybooks with
you once they are complete.
InitiaLit
Small group learning has begun during our InitiaLit sessions. These groups are designed to target students’ specific learning needs. Some groups are focusing on spelling, while others are developing reading fluency and comprehension skills.
We are very much looking forward to Harmony Week, with a range of fun and engaging activities planned for students across Next week.
We are also excited to share our Inquiry projects with you at the Expo next Friday. We hope to see many of you there!
