Prep News, Term 1 – Week 7

Welcome to this weeks’ Prep News!

We have now officially learnt our first three letters and sounds, m making ‘mmmm’, t making ‘t’, and s making ‘sss’. We are sure that it would make your child very proud to make the sound and name the letter if you see it on a sign or in a book!

Athletics Day was such great fun. We had our first ever sprint race and played lots of other athletics inspired sports. We were also very excited to have a long bus ride.

Our Story Book Mentor Text has been The Very Hungry Bear and others in the series. We have loved learning new vocabulary and being inspired by the text to draw and write our own ideas. Check out some of our learning below:

In Maths sessions we have been learning all about patterns. There are two types: repeating and growing patterns. Here are some pictures of our wonderful pattern learning.

Can you tell what our clever Prep has done with her triangle shapes to make a pattern?

Here is another different pattern, what is happening with the triangles this time?

What amazing pattern designs!

During Inquiry we have continued to learn about our unique identities. We have made and decorated bags and boxes to hold our special things that we will bring to school and then present with our class next week.
Look how fabulous they look.

Next week we are very excited to have Harmony Week and our Wellbeing Expo on Friday. We can’t wait to show you all the things we have created to share with you on the day!

Library has been moved to Mondays, so please remember to bring a bag ready for borrowing.

We absolutely love teaching Prep, see you all next week! Marissa and Kaisey.
