🌟 Term 2 is Off to a Fantastic Start! 🌟
It has been a wonderful beginning to Term 2, with students settling in quickly and confidently. We are so proud of the way they are striving to live out our school values: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be a Learner. These values were clearly demonstrated during our first assembly of the year, where we acknowledged ANZAC Day. Students showed respectful listening and thoughtful participation, and we were especially proud to share the wreath we made as a Grade 1/2 cohort.
📚 Literacy Learning
In our InitiaLit 1 sessions, students have been building their understanding of verbs, nouns, and homophones. We have also been exploring the beautiful mentor text Dingo by Clare Saxby, using it to inspire our writing. Students are creating hybrid texts, combining a narrative sentence with an informative sentence — a fantastic way to develop both creativity and factual writing skills.
In InitiaLit 2, our focus has been on revising spelling sounds, in particular the ‘ar’ sound (as in star) and ‘y’ making the long /e/ sound. Students are also learning about adjectives and practising how to make thoughtful predictions while reading.

🔢 Mathematics
In Maths, we have been exploring how doubles and near doubles facts can help us solve addition problems more efficiently. It’s been great to see students applying these strategies with growing confidence. Some students have also taken on the challenge of learning and practising their 2 times tables — well done!
🔍 Inquiry Learning
This term, our Inquiry focus is the concept of Change. We launched this exciting unit with a hands-on “volcano” experiment, which sparked lots of curiosity and discussion. Students began developing their observation skills as they watched and described the changes taking place — a fantastic start to our learning journey!
We are looking forward to another engaging and productive term ahead!
