Understanding the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Tier System

Badger Creek Primary School is committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment for all students. To achieve this, we use a School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) system, which helps us teach students how to behave in different learning environments in a clear and consistent way.

The SWPBS system is organized into three tiers of support:

Tier 1: Universal Supports
This tier includes school-wide expectations taught to every student. It focuses on reinforcing positive behaviours of being kind, being safe and being a learner, we do this through teaching expectations and rewards. Most students succeed with this level of support.

Tier 2: Targeted Supports
For students who need extra help, small group interventions provide additional encouragement and strategies. These supports address specific behaviour challenges early to prevent bigger issues. We are so lucky this semester to have Damien Litchfield, our Social Skills Facilitator join our team to help groups of students. Damien has worked with many people in developing social skills in our community, and we can’t wait for him to work with us.

Tier 3: Intensive Supports
Some students require individualized plans tailored to their unique needs. This tier offers personalized strategies and close monitoring to help them succeed.

By working together through this tiered system, we help all students thrive academically and socially. Your support at home reinforces these positive behaviours and contributes to a respectful and caring school community.
