Prep News, Term 2 – Week 6

Hip Hip Hooray!

Our plant experiment has worked this time. All of the Preps have been so excited to see that our seeds have finally begun growing. We have carefully been observing the changes we have seen over the past two weeks as part of our Inquiry learning. It has been wonderful to see some leaves starting to sprout from the stem growth.

During InitialLit we have learnt even more new sounds and tricky words. We can now practice using h, e and n and reading tricky words, they, that, you, are and said. Preps have practiced how to write capital letters, and we know that they are used at the start of a sentence and for names of people and places. We are enjoying challenging ourselves to use the lines correctly when practicing letter formation during sentence dictation for handwriting. Check out some student work below:

In Maths, it has been all about measurement. Learning about length using cm. We have learnt the vocabulary ordering, shorter, longer, same as, height, taller and shorter to compare. We measured our feet and then compared with a friends foot. It was lots of fun!

Our writing has improved so much this term. We have used the mentor text Thunderstorm Dancing by Katrina Germein and Judy Watson to learn new words. We wrote our own sentences inspired by the Author. Check them out!

We adore teaching you, keep up all the wonderful learning! Kaisey and Mrs Carpenter.
