What a Wonderful Start to Term 4!
InitiaLit
We have learnt the new digraph sound ‘wh’ for whistle and new tricky words when and where. Also ‘oo’ for moon and ‘oo’ as in foot. The tricky words that we are still finding difficult are like, they, all, are, what, where and want. Can you read these difficult tricky words without having to think for too long?
We also practiced writing on our lines and at the end we could write a sentence of our own. I’m not sure if I like this sentence or not, hahahaha.

Exploring texts
Our mentor text for the past fortnight was Wombat Stew by Marcia K. Vaughan. We learnt about alliteration (repeated sounds at the beginning of words in a sequence) like bubbling billy. The Preps also wrote like the author to produce their own Wombat Stew recipe with disgusting ingredients. Here are some of our recipes below:
We also has some free choice writing, if you dare… read the scary story below:

Skip Counting
Maths has been all about patterns. We have learnt that skip counting is just a pattern, repeating the amount we skip, over and over each time, to get the new numeral. At first we practiced making patterns with shapes and filling in missing parts.

We then found new patterns that can be created when we skip count by 10s and 5s from numbers other than zero.

Some students even started to make connections with skip counting patterns to their times tables using the pattern and ‘groups of’. This is seriously impressive learning!!

What a great start to Term Four! Marissa Carpenter, Kaisey and Sam.
