The Year 1/2 students have settled back into Term 4 beautifully!
We have a jam-packed term ahead, with exciting learning opportunities and special events, including our Year 1/2 Fun Night and Year 2 sleepover in Week 3!
We began the term by exploring being Bucket Fillers, focusing on kindness and celebrating the positive actions of our peers. We have also started Topic 7 of our Respectful Relationships program, exploring gender stereotypes and the similarities and differences that make us unique
Literacy
In InitiaLit 1, students have been learning about the letters c making the /s/ sound, as in city and centre, and g making the /j/ sound, as in gentle and ginger. We have also been exploring the text Fang Fang’s Chinese New Year.
InitiaLit 2 students have been revisiting sounds from previous terms while strengthening their spelling skills by exploring the different ways to represent the /or/ sound, including or, ore, aw and au. Our Year 2 students have also begun exploring the book You, Me, Murawee.
Numeracy

We have been revisiting multiplication, with a focus on arrays. Students put their learning into action by creating their very own Array Cities, where each building represented a multiplication equation. This was a fun, hands-on way to strengthen their understanding of multiplication!
Inquiry – Through Generations
This term, our Inquiry focus is Through Generations, where students will compare the past and present, exploring how toys, games, technology and everyday life has changed over time. Students have received a letter detailing how they are invited to bring in a special item from the past to share with the class. We can’t wait to see what treasures they bring!
We are looking forward to a busy, fun-filled and exciting term of learning, growing and making wonderful memories together!
