And just like that, Term 1 is nearly over. It has been a term full of learning, friendships, and wonderful memories! From our whole-school swimming and athletics events, to celebrating Harmony Day and Clean Up Australia Day, our students have embraced every opportunity. Our Grade 6 students have proudly stepped into their leadership roles, creating their Leadership Wall, while our Grade 5 students have shown fantastic care and responsibility as buddies to our Prep students. Here are a few of our leadership posters:

To finish off the term, our 5/6 students returned from an unforgettable camp at Sovereign Hill — and what an experience it was! It was a wonderful opportunity to step back in time and immerse ourselves in life during the Gold Rush era. Students had the chance to truly experience history in action through Costume School, where everyone dressed in traditional clothing and experienced what school life was like in the 1850s. There were plenty of laughs as we adjusted to the “old-fashioned” rules and routines!
Throughout the camp, students explored the township, learnt about gold mining, and developed a deeper understanding of Australia’s history through hands-on experiences. From trying their luck at gold panning to wandering the historic streets, there was
a real sense of excitement and curiosity.
One of the standout highlights was attending the Aura night show. This spectacular light and sound experience brought the stories of the goldfields to life in a powerful and engaging way. Students were captivated by the storytelling, making it a truly memorable part of the camp.
Camp also provided a valuable opportunity for students to build independence, strengthen friendships, and challenge themselves in new ways. It was fantastic to see students supporting one another, stepping outside their comfort zones, and making lasting memories together.
We are incredibly proud of the way all students represented our school. Their positive attitudes, teamwork, and enthusiasm made the camp such a success. It was a fantastic way to finish off a wonderful term!
Let’s hear from some of our students about their camp experience…
“I found gold when we went gold panning!” – Archie
“I loved the schools; the girls had to make felt bookmarks that we had to sew. I also liked when I found gold” – Anneke
“We got to make lavender pouches and learn how to make butter from milk” – Harper
“I loved dressing and sitting in restaurants and eating. I loved learning and seeing what it was like in the 1850s’ – Maddie Y
Have a wonderful weekend, from some very proud (but extremely tired!) 5/6 teachers.
