Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all our Grade 1/2 families enjoyed a restful and relaxing winter holiday and are feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning.

We are incredibly proud of the positive behaviour our students have demonstrated during this week’s daily swimming lessons. They have shown great responsibility by taking care of their own belongings, following instructions, and independently getting dressed after each session. Their positive attitude and willingness to be responsible learners has been wonderful to see.

NOCTURNE Winter Street Festival. Our P-2 students have been busy creating beautiful painted paper lanterns that will be displayed throughout Healesville’s main street, this Friday night. We are excited for our students to be part of this wonderful community event, and hope families enjoy seeing their artwork on display.

1/2 Learning

Reading:
This week, students completed a summarising task using our mentor texts Sam and Dave Dig a Hole and Pete the Sheep. Students recorded their summaries, which will be uploaded to Compass by the end of the term for families to listen to and celebrate their learning.

Next week, we will begin an exciting Exploring Texts unit focusing on Fairy Tales. Students will use these familiar stories to build their reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills.

Mathematics

This term began with developing skills of measuring the Mass of objects and practicing the Maths Strategy ‘Using Tens Patterns’.
In week three, students will begin a new unit on Multiplicative Thinking, where they will explore grouping and sharing through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks. This important learning lays the foundation for multiplication and division concepts.

Wellbeing
During our Respectful Relationships lessons this term, students will be learning about positive coping strategies and developing practical ways to manage challenges and emotions in everyday situations.
