Cyber Safety

3

Our children are growing up in a digital world, where technology is constantly changing and developing. It is crucial we empower our children with skills for cyber safety and digital wellbeing.

At Badger Creek Primary School, we work with the team at Cyber Safety Project to implement a whole school community approach to cyber safety and digital wellbeing. With a focus on proactive education, the program empowers students, educators, and the wider school community to self-manage their digital safety and wellbeing.

A whole-school approach ensures a consistent message and strategies for everyone. This supports safe environments for students across home and school. Programs we provide include,

  • Students participate in incursions where they develop online safety skills they can apply to any online platform. There is a focus on the four key online values of responsibility, integrity, strength, and empathy.
  • Staff are involved with annual professional learning, keeping up-to-date with the latest in cyber safety and digital wellbeing education.
  • Parents are invited to watch webinars run by experts in the field, that explore a diverse range of topics pertinent to raising children in a digital age.
  • Our Grade 6 students participate in a program tailored to prepare students for the transition to secondary school and the digital experiences common during this stage of their life.

Our approach to cyber safety education is aligned with department policies.
