Auslan Update, Term 3 – Week 8

Thank you to everyone for their dedication and enthusiasm is Auslan this term.

Prep’s are finishing the term by learning to sign their name in Auslan. Can you sign your name?

1/2s are signing the 4 zones of regulation and the main emotions within each.

3/4s are creating Auslan inclusive signs for Badger Creek Primary School. Keep your eyes peeled early next term for posters and signs to practice around the school.

5/6s are developing quiz questions based on their Deaf Culture and Auslan knowledge.

Many students have asked for the sign for HELP during 3Way Conferences, so I thought I’d share the answer here. Create the below handshape: one hand, flat handshape facing upwards at tummy height. Other hand (palm facing down) and fingers bent to touch flat hand. Then move the combined handshape in the direction that help is needed.

i.e.

Push outwards – I HELP YOU

Bring towards you – YOU HELP ME

Point from one person to another – YOU HELP THEM
