Term 2 Wrap Up – Scott Crawford

In true Badger style, Term 2 has been action-packed and full of memorable moments! Here’s a snapshot of some highlights from the past term:

  • Our school Anzac service, presented by the Healesville RSL, with our School Captains proudly representing Badger Creek P.S at community services in town.
  • Two inspiring sessions of the Respectful Relationships Young Leaders program, facilitated by BCPS staff and hosted at the Sanctuary.
  • The whole school took part in the cross country run through the beautiful Coranderrk section of the Sanctuary.
  • We welcomed staff from neighboring schools to review and share our approach to literacy.
  • The official opening of the BCPS Men’s Shed as part of the Harvest Garden, where selected Grade 4 students completed projects with support from Men’s Shed members.
  • Our Grade 5/6 students attended the Aussie Sports Expo, getting a taste of a variety of sports.
  • The school hosted the Aboriginal Remembrance Service, supported by local community organisations.
  • The Grade 1/2 Arts performance, inspired by our connection to nature, was beautifully presented.
  • Our 5/6 students delivered an energetic performance of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs’ song “Maps.”
  • Selected students proudly represented BCPS at the District Cross Country event.
  • Prep to Grade 2 students enjoyed an excursion to CERES, where they explored the importance of sustainable living.
  • Over 30 students participated in the AFL Girls Gala Day, competing in a round robin event and representing our school with pride.
  • Weekly Stomp Dance rehearsals culminated in two fantastic performances at Healesville High.
  • The Badger Creek Band is now up and running with more than 40 enthusiastic members.
  • Selected senior students took part in the High Ability program, focusing on advanced mathematics.
  • The whole school participated in a cyber safety incursion to enhance digital awareness.
  • Sanctuary staff delivered an informative session to support the Grade 3/4 inquiry unit on deforestation.
  • Grade 6 leaders collaborated with the Sanctuary to provide feedback on the Fighting Extinction project.
  • Our school celebrated two whole-school SWPBS achievements with a picnic at the Sanctuary and a hot chips day.
  • And of course, our incredible Wellbeing Expo — details of which you’ll hear more about tonight!

Looking ahead, Term 3 promises to be just as busy and exciting with upcoming events including the snow trip for selected students, Hooptime, excursions, swimming for Prep to Grade 4, Book Week, and no doubt, more visits to the Sanctuary.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge our amazing community. This term has been a long one, and as winter approaches, mornings can get a bit tougher! Yet, our staff, students, and families continue to live our school values, creating the warm and supportive environment that makes Badger Creek P.S so special.

Thank you all for your ongoing dedication and spirit!
