Wow! Preps have now been at school for 78 days. Our 100 Days of school is fast approaching and more details about this exciting milestone will be communicated early next term.
During Literacy, students have been practicing dictation. I orally say a sentence, students repeat it back to me, we count how many words, then we write it independently, sounding out each word. At first this was very difficult, but after lots of practice we can now do it. I could not be prouder of you all! We are constantly perfecting our handwriting and learning new letters and sounds. We can also use and identify g, l, k and u. This means we now know all the vowels and their sounds. Hip hip hooray.

In Maths we have focused on ordering objects, from longest to shortest and tallest to shortest. We have also been learning about the sequence of numbers when we count. We have learnt how to play a counting game when practicing 0 – 20 counting. Students have gotten really good at writing numerals. We are trying to write them without reversing.

The Story Book Mentor Text we have studied is ‘All through the Year’ by Jane Godwin, where we went on a journey learning about all the experiences the family have each month. We then did some writing to show our favourite thing we love to do with our own family. Check some of them out below.

During Respectful Relationships we focused on our whole school value Be Safe and we have learnt all about ways we can keep our body safe at school. We played a game with hula hoops to show each other how close or far we should be to respect someone’s personal space bubble and keep ourselves safe. We read a book to learn about not being a ‘space invader.’ It was lots of fun to play the game!
