It has been another fantastic fortnight of learning in 5/6 Land!
In Exploring Texts, we have continued working on our historical recount unit, with students writing their own poems inspired by Archie Roach’s storytelling style. The writing our students have produced has been incredible, showcasing creativity, emotion and a growing understanding of First Nation perspectives. We are so proud of the effort and thought that has gone into their work.
In Maths, we have been focusing on decimals, including place value (tenths, hundredths and thousandths), converting decimals into fractions, placing
decimals on number lines, and ordering decimals. This week, we have begun our new unit on time and are looking forward to seeing students continue to develop their understanding through a range of engaging learning experiences.
Our Gold Rush diorama projects are really starting to come to life! Students have continued building and refining their dioramas and have recently begun adding voice-overs to enhance their presentations. We cannot wait to showcase the students’ hard work, creativity and historical understanding at our Learning Expo next week.
In Respectful Relationships, we have been exploring personal and cultural strengths. This week, our focus was on talk that can harm and talk that can heal. Students discussed the ingredients of a genuine apology and explored what sincere apologies look and sound like in everyday situations.
On Friday, we attended the Futsal Tournament at Oxley College, where students competed against several other schools. It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, sportsmanship and plenty of fun. Once again, our Badger students led the way with their handshakes, encouragement and team spirit. Their respectful behaviour and positive attitude continue to make us incredibly proud, go team Badger!
We look forward to welcoming families to our Learning Expo next week and sharing the incredible learning, creativity and achievements of our fabulous students!
