In InitiaLit, Year 2 students have been exploring past, present and future tense verbs while continuing to practise monitoring for understanding during reading. Year 1 students have been learning new ways to spell the /j/ sound at the end of words — ge as in cage and dge as in bridge. We’ve also been using sentence dictation to apply our Tricky Words in context.
In Writing, students are crafting imaginative stories inspired by our mentor text The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. Their creativity is shining as they plan, draft and publish their own “magnificent” pieces!
In Maths, we have wrapped up our work on multiplication and division and moved on to exploring 3D objects and shape features such as parallel lines.
A visit from Healthy Harold was a wonderful way for the students to discuss and understand Digital Safety and Wellbeing by encouraging a balance between offline and online activities, recognising and reporting unsafe content, and identifying trusted adults who can help.
A wonderful two weeks of learning!
