Grade 1 & 2 Newsletter – A Fantastic Start to Term 3!
What a wonderful start we’ve had to Term 3! Our Grade 1 and 2 students have returned refreshed and ready to learn. It’s been fantastic to see everyone showing our school value Be a Learner by staying focused, trying their best, and embracing each new challenge with enthusiasm.
In Grade 1 InitiaLit, we’ve been learning about split digraphs (bossy e), exploring suffixes, and practising new tricky words. Grade 2 students have been diving into adverbs, compound words, and using their skills to make inferences to better understand the texts we read.
We encourage families to continue supporting home reading. Don’t forget to practise tricky words—these can be found at the back of your child’s Home Reading diary. Regular reading and writing practice really make a difference!
In Mathematics, we’ve been exploring multiplication and division through real-life worded problems. Students are developing strategies to identify important information, draw groups to represent their thinking, and write matching number sentences.
Our Inquiry unit this term focuses on Social Justice, where we’re learning about and celebrating cultural differences. We’re also taking part in daily Body Safety lessons and have revisited our School Values: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be a Learner.
We’re excited for swimming next week and are already looking forward to Book Week in Week 5—it’s going to be a fun and busy term!
Keep up the amazing work, Grade 1 and 2s!
