Everybody gets what they need- that’s fair! – Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Badger Creek Primary School, one of the important lessons we teach our students is that fairness doesn’t always mean everyone gets the same thing—it means everyone gets what they need to succeed. Each child is unique, with different strengths, challenges, and ways of learning. Some may need extra help with reading, while others might benefit from advanced math challenges. Some may have support for emotional regulation or require quiet spaces to focus.

This principle of fairness is not just about academics—it’s about helping every child thrive as an individual. When we provide different tools or support to different students, we’re not giving anyone an advantage—we’re meeting them where they are.

We encourage you to talk to your children about this idea. Understanding that “fair” does not always mean “equal” can help reduce comparisons and foster empathy and inclusion. In a classroom where everyone’s needs are met, all children feel valued and supported.

When things are “fair” we can create a school community that celebrates individual differences and supports every learner on their unique journey.
