Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal This Wednesday afternoon/evening we will be hosting our Respectful Relationships Evening. We will have a number of organisations providing information on cybersafety, mental health and you will also have an opportunity to participate in activities organised by our classes. Alyssa Drill our Respectful Relationships lead would like the opportunity to talk about our upcoming topics Gender and Identity (this examines gender stereotypes and supports children in understanding that they do not have to fit into stereotypes) and Positive Gender Relationships (this explores how we ensure that we have positive relationships regardless of [...]

Nerae Preece Principal Do you ever wonder how to respond when your child comes home from school with a problem? If you can keep this image in mind, it is sure to help… Empathy: Listen and care. Remember children that feel empathy from their parents and carers feel loved, cared for, supported and continue to talk to their care giver throughout their lives. Nerae Preece Principal Congratulations to Pearl We have a swimming Champion here at Badger Creek Primary School. On Friday 24th February Pearl entered the 10 year old girls butterfly at the District Swimming Carnival where she won. This meant that Pearl qualified for the Division swimming carnival which was held Thursday 9th March where she came away with the blue ribbon, winning the race. Pearl has now qualified for the butterfly in the Yarra Division Metropolitan Region Championship. This is no easy mission as I am sure all you swimmers out there are aware butterfly is one [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal It has been quite a big week for us here at Badger, as we move through a School Review. A review is a process that looks to help schools reflect on the past and focus on the future. On Tuesday we had a panel come together to evaluate how we have been tracking in the past. Part of this is also gathering documentation that we have created over the past 4 years to make sure that our school is compliant with state laws. It’s a big task, so if you haven’t seen [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s Seat… What are you reading at the moment? I am currently reading some magazines, one about wellness and the other about home decoration. I borrow these through the Eastern Regional Library, on an app called Libby. I like to read other things too, and my favourite topic to read about is self help. I read my first book about this all the way back when I was 17 (it was called Being Happy by Andrew Matthews), and the interest has continued. Interestingly though, up until about 8 years ago I didn’t think [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal 3 Way Interviews Giving feedback about a child’s learning progress to parents is the biggest part of the partnership that we have with you as a parent/carer. At Badger Creek Primary School we do this 4 times in a year. Two of these are through formal written reports and the other two are through formal interviews. Of course you are encouraged to check in more regularly as you see necessary, that can be simply arranged by reaching out to your child’s teacher. Wednesday the 1st of March is our first of these [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal Swimming Sports Our first ever House Swimming Sports were held at the Healesville Outdoor Pool on Tuesday. It was a fantastic day with every child participating in at least one activity over the day. We were incredibly proud of the have a go attitude! We had so many helpers supporting us throughout the day, and we would like to thank each and every one of them. On the day Marran (red) won on points, but I think everyone was a winner on the day for being safe, respectful and responsible. We look [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seat Hello everyone! Welcome… I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and that you have been able to make the most of some of the warm summer days over the break. I managed to get away to Phillip Island for a couple of days, I had time to read some books and really enjoy some walks. It was pretty relaxing. After a good break, the team has come back together to get ready for a great year ahead with your children.  Back to school is an exciting time [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal  As the year draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on some of our favourite parts of the year. It is so lovely to think that now our families are able to enter our school and enjoy traditions like our school concert, graduation, assemblies and helping with working bees. Seeing everyone back together truly is one of my highlights of the year. Our PFA created more memories with dress up days and special lunches. It was always something for our kids to look forward to, and I love the fact that [...]
