Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal What an amazing week it has been for our school. So many wonderful celebrations. It started on Monday when Bonnie Slootman (School Council Secretary) and I interviewed our grade 5 students for leadership roles in 2023. The students had worked so hard on preparing their expression of interest letters, and practicing at home. This afternoon they will receive their letters to share which leadership role they will fulfil in 2023. Please make sure you come next Friday to assembly (2:30-3:30) to see our 2022 School Captains hand over to the 2023 School [...]

In ½ we have Jessica Riley, Kaisey Marra, Kathryn Douglas, and Rohan Anderson. In ¾ we have Andy Moore, Gwen Shand and Matt Johnson. And in 5/6 we have Alyssa [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal  So there is some big news to share this week about our staff for 2023... We are sadly saying goodbye to a few educators in 2023... Lachie Brown is heading back up to the mountains around Mansfield to look after the Lauriston Camp. A BIG thank you to you Lachie for helping us out when we really needed you. David Clingin has been offered a job teaching at Eastwood PS. This job allows David to teach deaf students in a mainstream classroom, with a teacher of the deaf, and he will be [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal  It’s been quite a busy term, and I am realising the further we get into the term, the more tired I get, the more I let my good routines and habits slide. Food choices become more convenient, exercise regimes are excused with a lack of time and bedtime not adhered too. Before too long everyone is tired and feeling unhealthy. Over the past few weeks, I have been heading down this pathway. I decided to pinpoint one area to improve on and that is sleep, creating a bedtime ritual was going to [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal  Community Conversation  Thursday night around 20 families gathered for our first Community Conversation. With burgers and a babysitter on offer, who could refuse! This was an opportunity for our school council to be able to listen to our community and for us to have a look and unpack what the new build would look like after its completion. We shared our wonderings and also took the opportunity to understand what our families would want our children to know, what we want them to do and what we want them to be before [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal  Building update  On Thursday we had a site meeting and this is what is about to happen on the project. This week you will have noticed that holes are being dug for additional piers, these piers are between 3-7 metres in depth. They will be concreted in over the coming week, after that plumbers and electricians will be coming to place down the services in the right areas. After that the slab will be laid. It is all coming along well. We thank everyone for your patience and understanding so far. Reminder [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seat  This week I have been asked quite a bit about how I am feeling about the school building being demolished. Grief is a funny thing as each of us experience it in different ways. For me, it was spending a quiet moment in the buildings in the last few weeks, remembering the fond memories that I had of teaching in those classrooms. For some of you who attended Badger Creek School, there will probably be lots of different feelings for you, it’s always good to come and talk about it if [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s Seat  Welcome back to a new term. We are thrilled to be starting a new term. This term will be jam packed and a little longer than usual, and a lot of fun! Breaks  In our staff meeting on Monday we have reflected on our learning at Berry Street and had a little look at little learning breaks during learning time that some students may need from time to time. We wanted to make it clear and fair for our students. Here is a little break down of the expectations. Brain Breaks- [...]
