Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seat… Now I sit down to write the very last newsletter article for 2020. When the year started I never thought I would have achieved what I did this year. I didn’t even think I would be principal! I have realised over the past few weeks that it is really important that we take the time to reflect. When we have lived through a year like this and we stop and look back for a moment, we have 2 ways of thinking. I could consider my feelings as post traumatic trauma OR [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s Seat This week has been such a terrific week, and I think the thing that has made me smile the most is the student in grades 5/6 opening up their Cardboard Arcade. I have been walking in and out of their classrooms since they returned from COVID and watched these groups problem solve, compromise, have highs and have frustrations to get to yesterday and today. When I walked in yesterday, I saw big smiles everywhere! It was just beautiful. Entering the arcade was a non-perishable food donation. Want to find out what [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s Seat  It has been another busy week for our Badger Kids. We have all been feeling a bit tired, but everyone is doing their best to stay happy and energised. I am a little bit excited about this weekend. I get to have a bowl of Ramen (Japanese noodle soup). I haven’t eaten any since February and to be honest I am a little bit excited! What adventures will you be up to this weekend? Teaching teams for 2021  It is very exciting to announce our Teaching and Learning Teams for 2021. [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seat  We truly are on the home straight now. 3 weeks to go and there is so much to do! Our teachers are working really hard to put together reports and classes for 2021. We have been interviewing candidates for the two classroom jobs in 2021. Mel and I have been doing fire season preparations. We also have to think about moving classrooms. Then, on Tuesday afternoon, I find out that our beautiful school has been given $9 million for our buildings! Can you believe it??? I don’t think I quite can. [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s Seat  Another week has been and gone. Your children are working incredibly hard in their learning. You are probably noticing from all of the sleep they are needing! We are so proud of their commitment to learning, and whatever progress we see on their reports, (we may not see huge learning growth from last year) it’s safe to say, that in many ways they have been learning this year. Learning about themselves as learners, as friends and as members of a community. Orientation days  Tuesday the 8th of December is Orientation Day [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seat  We have got through Hump Week. Another half of a term has flown by, and we can see that everyone is starting to get tired. So, now more than ever we all have to put our wellbeing first. Do you remember Maslow’s pyramid that talked about our basic needs, sleep, food, water, shelter, love? As our new Covid lives come into effect and as we find ourselves getting busier again. It’s time to make sure we are getting all of our basic needs met so we can be the best that [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal’s seatCan you believe that we are heading into Week 6! Our children are creating, making and learning. Our whole school focus has been on being friendly… and I must say, most of our kids are doing a great job of saying hello. Our grade 5/6 students have been super friendly and offering lunchtime activities which have been a lot of fun for our Prep to 2 kids. Things are feeling calm so our kids can learn.Prep 2021 transitionYesterday was the first onsite transition session for our 2021 preps. We divided our enrolled preps [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principals seat I am going to jump straight into the news this week… We have something pretty important to celebrate! World Teachers Day Today is World Teachers Day. I think that like every year, but particularly this year we need to thank our teachers. So I wanted to write a little something to them from all of us… To our incredibly dedicated team of teachers at Badger Creek (This includes our Education Staff too!) Thank you for… Caring for our precious children, to make sure they feel safe so they can learn. Putting [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal We are well and truly into our learning now. I am really enjoying the opportunities to walk into classrooms to see the interesting things that are going on. This week I have learnt a lot about simple, complex, and compound sentences from the 3/4 students. The 5/6 students have been sharing their ideas in planning for Cane's Arcade. Our 1/2's have started to help me understand my emotions by sharing the zones of regulation, as well as sharing their friends of 10. Our preps have been busily working on being authors. I [...]

Nerae Preece Principal From the Principal I bet that it was easier to work from home this week! I have had a few quick chats to people and it looked like many parents were not carrying so many plates (that they were trying to keep spinning!) So do you remember last week I mentioned at assembly that our focus was on bringing our good manners. I must say that we have done pretty well with our manners this week. With so many things that have to be shared and socialising to deal with, the kids have done so [...]
